Dances with Brooms

It was one fine night, when Father Connor decided that it was time for a spring-cleaning in the Basilica. None of the acolytes were around and no one else was silly enough to appear in just that moment. As Father Connor was not in the mood for cleaning on his own, he came up with a plan.

Off he went to the court and applied to rent every Borghesia available at the moment. Did they see through his ploy? Or did they just not want to do all the paperwork at the court? We will never know. The court would only allow him to rent seven of those available. With a whistle on his lips Father Connor went back to the Basilica and waited for the helpers to arrive.

One after another the seven Borghesia arrived at the Basilica. Their eyes gave away their surprise, seeing so many other Borghesia coming to the Basilica. Did they expect an orgy or a huge banquette. Probably. Because the outrage that erupted, when they first heard about their task was all but pleasant.
"You rented us for cleaning the Basilica?"
"Do you think of us merely as your servants?"

Father Connor chuckled and asked what they would prefer, a big party with all his vampire friends feeding, or a little cleaning job.

There was some more commotion about the dirty work, so Father Connor unleashed his most malicious trick. He said the following: "I leave it open to you. Anyone who wants to help me is welcome to do so. All the others are free to go." Would anyone dare to leave? He did not think so.

As it turned out only one of the Borghesia thought it would be better to sit on a bench and dangle her feet. One other had an important appointment and asked the Father if she could leave early. All the others agreed to help Father Connor with the spring-cleaning of the Basilica.
