Using Magic

Now that you have trained elemental magic you certainly want to use it - but how?

Elemental magic uses the same "inventory" as all other items. Even worse - it shares the same inventory with the other items. What do I mean by that?

Your inventory has a capacity of twenty items. Let's say you RPed with a friendly Paesani and he wanted to do you something good and gave you a bread. This bread blocks one of the twenty inventory slots. Ouch. Less space for elemental magic items.

So remember - bread, fish, and meat is bad for vampires. ;)

You can simply delete unwanted items by typing /delete Itemname (e.g. /delete Bread).

Now, how do you cast a spell on someone?
Simple. Define which item to use and on whom.

/use MagicItemName Firstname Lastname
(e.g. /use Healing Skarlet Winterwolf)

If you do not specify a name, the spell will affect the avatar closest to you.

It is enough if you type the first name or just a part of the first name, as long as this identifies the target correctly (as long as there are not two people with the same first name near you).

Skarlet, Mariyah and myself have tested some spells on what their effects are. Below find a short summary of the spell effects.

Target = whom to target - yourself or another player
Max. distance = how close you have to be to your target
Effect = what will happen
Duration = how long the spell will last

Healing
Target: other player
Max. distance: 10 meters
Effect: target will be healed for 50 phys points
Duration: n/a

Healing

Protectus
Target: self (/use Shield - no name needed)
Max. distance: n/a
Effect: all physical damage you will receive will be halved
Duration: roughly one minute

Protectus

Fireball
Target: other player
Max. distance: 20 meters
Effect: three fireballs will be cast at the target for a random damage of 5 to 10 points each.
Duration: fireballs persist for roughly 60 seconds
Fireball

As soon as we can test other spells this post will be updated.

Understanding the Magic Garden

As soon as you reach an SGS game age of 14 days you are able to train elemental magic. This basically replaces your previous "job" where you earned G$. Don't fret, if you train your magical skills in the Magic Garden, you will be paid as well.

There are four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, and Air) and one additional superior element (Akasha). Each of those five elements has its own pagoda in the Magic Garden.

The five pagodas (click to enlarge)

Every 14 game days another spell will be available to you.

Game Age Pagoda Spell Name Effect
14 Water Salvetor Healing
28 Earth Protectus Shield
42 Fire Vulcanis Fireball
56 Air Mercurious Swiftness
70 Air Boreas Storm
84 Fire Tenebrae Invisibility
98 Water Nifhell Freeze
112 Earth Maleficus Manifestation
126 Akasha Shivaya The Third Eye

Each of those spells can be trained up to level 3. You advance one level every 14 training days (just like in the regular jobs as well). With each level the salary increases as well as the number of items you receive. For example if you train Salvetor (the healing spell) on level 1 you will receive one healing item each time you train (so one heal per day). On level 2 you receive two healing items. So, the higher the level, the more efficient your efforts get.

So, to reach level 3 in any given spell, you have to invest 28 training days. As you can learn a new spell every 14 days ... you can see the decision you are facing.

Do you train many spells just a little? Or do you stay with just a few spells?
The decision is yours.

There is one more benefit to leveling your skills. If you "master" a skill (train additional 14 days after you reached level 3), you will earn one additional point in your "star ranking". This will increase your physis by 4 points. There is a limit of 3 stars gained through mastered skills.

You can find a more detailed description of each spell on the official Venexia website.
